CIA

CIA And the history behind the shadiest organization in the U.S
The CIA debuted as the OSS during World War 2 as the government saw the need to create an agency which would gain information from the enemies of the united states in 1942 the OSS carried out many operations in enemy territory and on July 26, 1947, president Truman established the CIA to combat the main threat to the U.S at the time, Communism. The CIA has a dark history in which many individuals have been tortured and killed in the name of the safety of the American people. But the CIA began it's infamy after 1950 when president Truman ordered the CIA to become a lethal force that could gather information and take action when needed. But this action was in vain as the CIA's deployment into the Korean war was laughable as the organization had been so heavily infiltrated and staffed with incompetent agents that its effect was negligible. But the CIA gained operational powers and was deployed in Iran to take down an Iranian coup against the Shah the CIA was successful as the coup was put down with CIA operatives manipulating the crowds to take out the dictator. The CIA was unsurprisingly kept active in the middle east destabilizing regional powers and often times replacing them with pro-American factions.  The CIA remained silent conducting its missions to subvert communism and only became known when it's plans went sideways such as the bay of pigs fiasco. In which the CIA launched an invasion of Cuba from Guatemala the invasion ended in two days and Fidel Castro's government only became stronger after the failed invasion. Another notable feat of the CIA is that the organization seemingly out of spite provided the Dahli Llama with funds after the Chinese invasion of Tibet.

The CIA's infamy is shown further with the most infamous president as the CIA was deeply intertwined with the former president's watergate scandal with several former CIA members part of the president's infamous plumbers. The ties run deeper as the Nixon administration used Kissinger to direct the CIA in its efforts to strip the CIA of the 'deadwood' this massive purge was a massive undertaking to cleanse the CIA of its bloody history and the new CIA director who realised he was in over his head ordered all agents to submit to him the history of the CIA's dealings this became known as the "FAMILY JEWELS" and honestly the stuff on here is scary https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/DOC_0001451843.pdf and so much stuff is censored It leaves me wondering what the CIA isn't disclosing, Most of the information disclosed are attempts to kill Fidel Castro but many other documents implicate the CIA in tapping individuals warrantless and setting up black sites across the globe. The CIA kept itself mostly silent up until today with some minor slip ups across the globe but the real question is when will the CIA leak again? and what will happen to us?

  1. Really interesting topic about the CIA really like that you said what the CIA was called in WW2 I never knew it was called that, it was a nice addition of information. It would have been nice if you had talked about Kennedy's dissent with the CIA it would have been interesting to learn more about. Why did the CIA decide to finally release their slipups today?
