Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino was is director, actor, and producer born in 1963. His career began in the 1980’s with his appearance on Golden girls where he played an Elvis Presley impersonator. His directing career began in 1992 with the crime thriller, Reservoir Dogs. Reservoir Dogs received great reviews. Film critic, Todd McCarthy, wrote that the film was “undeniably impressive” and that it took influence from other popular crime thrillers such as Mean Streets, Good Fellas, and The Killing. His second film in 1994 was even more well received. Pulp Fiction was the first indie film to make over $100m at the American box office, receiving $108m nationally and $213m worldwide. Entertainment Weekly's Owen Gleiberman wrote that the film was "high on the rediscovery of how pleasurable a movie can be.”

His films are characterized by profanity, gore, and humor. The profanity and gore cause his films to receive some negative reviews, but Tarantino is still viewed as one of the best directors of his generation. A 2013 study found that Tarantino was the most studied director in the UK. This demonstrates the complexity of his films and the interesting nature of his career and works. He has made an agreement with himself and the public that he will produce just ten movies. The Hateful Eight released in 2015 marked his eighth film. This leaves just two highly anticipated films left in his career.
