Why The US Government Works. Bobak Afshari
In these Federalists essay, reasons why the US government function so well are shown. Federalist paper No 10 talks a lot about how not only the diverse opinions shape the democracy of America, but the way the trail and laws are passed. In the essay, thoughts on a mass majority deciding democracy is prominent; the essay describes how this mass majority represents why democracy will continue to grow, it suits the people. "By a faction, I understand a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or a minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community." The shape of the democracy is also important to, a diverse number and type of people should be represented (ex the farmer, shop owner etc.) This makes the democracy work. The essay also describes how people should follow common law, because without this, it would be hard to make a democracy.
The Federalist Essay No. 51 reflects on the process of governing and how the government not only govern but teach the people how to govern themselves. The idea of separate governments and that all the needs of the people are met is presented in this text. The text also reveals the idea of self government,"provided it lie within a practical sphere, the more duly capable it will be of self-government." These ideas shape what makes the US government system so great. The idea that democracy comes from the majority of the people and the ideas of diversity in the jury all add to a fair government. Many reasons shape why the US has a great government including their distaste from the way Britain governed them. This need for liberation and independence created radical thought which brought in these rights and this great government.
