Osama Bin Laden

Osama Bin Laden is a man that every American has heard of but who is he and where did he come from? Bin Laden was born in Saudi Arabia and was the 17th child out of 52 children born to Mohammed Bin Laden. Mohammed Bin Laden was an immigrant who owned the largest construction company in the kingdom. Due to Osama Bin Laden's father being a very rich man, Bin Laden grew up with many privileges like for example, having the privilege of education.

Bin Laden was an Islamic follower and it influenced the way he thought and most of the decisions he made. Due to his believed he believed that there should be an entire islamic state. In order to pursue this belief he created a group called al-Qaida which means “the base” which focused on terrorist attacks rather than having a military. Saudi Arabia feared Bin Laden's invasion and attacks so they seeked help from the Unites States. It was this that angered Osama Bin Laden made him turn his anger towards Americans for competition of who would be the "master".

His first terrorist attack agains the U.S was the bombing of a hotel in Aden, Yemen, which housed American soldiers while they were on a mission. Luckily no Americans were killed but it symbolized a threat to America. Bin Laden has had many other terroist attacks since then all of which include bombs. One of his most know attacks which is also the most tragic event in U.S history was the attack on the twin towers on September 11, 2001. Also, as we heard in class Bin Laden, attempted to kill President Bill Clinton by bombing a bridge Clinton was suppose to cross on his route to a conference.

The capture of Osama Bin Laden became one of Americas top priorities. Bin Laden had been one of America's biggest enemy. May 1, 2011 also marked history in America because it was when American soldiers killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. Although Bin Laden is no longer alive it does not mean America is safe from terrorist attacks.
