Radios were an important part of the people during the Great Depression. During the Great Depression, people gave up on most of their unnecessary leads such as vacuum cleaners, household equipment, nightclubs closed, and many companies disappeared. However, the popularity of the radio boomed in the great depression, it provided a way to spread information through a large population. Households, no matter poor or rich had their way of getting their hands on a set of radio.The radio provided a distraction from the reality. Comedy shows, talk shows and music were played on the radio constantly. It gave neighborhoods to come together and listen to local programs. The radio provided hope for the nation, the nation listened to their president, Roosevelt's speech. This device gave people hope and proved to be an immediate device that made it easier for news to travel.
