A Comparison of Two Internal Threats in America

Throughout history, Americans have been terrorized by various internal and external organizations.  Today, I will compare and contrast two different internal threats in American history.

1870s - The Klu Klux Klan
Since the 1870s, all southern states had a KKK organization to prevent African Americans from obtaining civil liberties, like the right to vote.  They hijacked voting barns, beating, or even murdering, African Americans and whoever would helped them.  Although the KKK was not the only terrorist group of the day, it was certainly the most memorable because the members wore white caps.  To combat the KKK, the federal government passed several enforcement acts, such as the KKK act that classified their conspiracies as federal crimes.

2016 - clowns
I know what you're thinking, either that you are deathly afraid of clowns, or that you think the whole thing is a joke.  Either way, you are right, but the most important thing about clowns is that the threat exists; when you search "killer clowns" on google, over 3 million webpages appear.   Sightings of "killer" clowns have been reported in North Carolina and South Carolina and are spreading across the nation.  The clowns have been reported to lure kids into the forest with candy and then attacking them.
Unlike the KKK, the clowns don't target any specific race, but they do target children because of their vulnerability.  The primary reason for the KKK's attacks were that they wanted white supremacy in the south, while the clowns simply want to terrorize children.  Neither of these reasons is valid by today's standards.

The Reversal
The KKK killed more than 4,000 African Americans and whites.  The clowns haven't killed any (yet).  Gradually, acts like the KKK act and more efficient laws have crushed terrorist groups like the KKK for the general welfare.  Now, the federal government is looking to crush the issue of clowns and prevent the public outcry.
