U.S supreme court
In all our years of school we have been taught that their are 3 branches of government the executive, legislative, and the judicial branch and it's often we hear about how the judicial court was silenced by the executive and legislative branch this has happened under the rule of "king" Andrew Jackson and under FDR these men are few among many who have threatened the judicial court the checks and balances appears to be made against the judicial court however the judicial court especially in situations where popular presidents didn't agree with the courts decision such as the situation of the aforementioned presidents. The question we must ask ourselves how powerful is the supreme court of the united states?

I would argue very many controversial issues are today decided by the court when the court has support its decision would be respected and the  country would abide by it and today the court is split in two liberal vs conservative and even today conservatives want some decisions to be overturned in the supreme court. However their is the threat of setting a dangerous precedent which many of our leaders agree with the supreme courts as their decisions are respected and they will be abided by and the government will only ever move against the supreme court when they have popular support. But it  is also worth mentioning that decisions can be overturned the supreme court chooses what is constitutionally allowed for example Roe v Wade which legalized abortions in 1973, was decided by the supreme court, and many groups within the U.S want to repeal the decision and make abortions illegal once more. It is worth mentioning that other controversial decisions are left untouched because people believe that it was a difficult decision and opening it up would be a legal equivalent to Pandora's box the supreme court is a valuable institution but the court is inflexible as appointments are lifelong this creates a court system that represents an older administration even though the new administration elected by the people preaches views very different to the  views of the supreme court. The court is supposed to be free from the bias yet the  court is controlled by people and the people who support the court or oppose the court are people as well and people are biased and irrational when they are confronted with a issue they feel strongly about. The courts are supposed to be run by the people who believe will represent the country as a whole yet we agree with and  disagree with many of the courts decisions.

My conclusion is that the courts are powerful as they command great respect and prestige yet they are vulnerable from actions of the people and government if they believe the courts are not representing the countries constitution with an unbiased eye. The court system is a branch of the government and just like the rest of the government is subject to biases and we should note that the supreme court justices don't decide what is right but rather what they believe is right. It would be dangerous for the american people to believe that the courts are representative of what is right as the court  has made several decisions that with the modern eye is openly racist or they have made decisions that are openly biased, we are allowed to disagree with the court and if the court makes one of these decisions which the majority of Americans believe is wrong should our government shut down the courts possibly deteriorating the courts prestige just to show that their decision is not considered right?
