Linda Tripp

Linda Tripp is best known for her involvement in the Monica Lewinsky scandal with President Clinton. By secretly recording her and Lewinsky's private conversations about the affair, Tripp was able to expose the truth about the presidential affair. This affair opened up many issues regarding the President's scandals within the office, linking it to the earlier Jones v. Clinton lawsuit. Although she completely betrayed her close friend Monica, Linda Tripp claimed that the reasoning behind her actions were purely patriotic. Before being transferred to the Pentagon after being moved out of the White House, Tripp was an Army Intelligence secretary at Fort Meade. She claimed that her firing from the Pentagon at the end of the Clinton administration was due to her attack on Clinton's personal affairs, while the White House said it was simply routine.

Tripp's crucial involvement in the Lewinsky scandal all started when they became good friends from both working in the White House – despite the drastic age difference, Lewinsky soon trusted her and confided in her often. When Tripp learned about Lewinsky's physical relationship with Clinton. She connected the dots and realized that she had observed many other interns and employees in her workplace exit his office flush faced and with smudged lipstick, some of which who have filed complaints about sexual harassment from Clinton. Tripp made it her mission to expose President Clinton for his scandalous behavior, and used Lewinsky to do so, as she was part of the biggest affair at the time. Tripp began to record their phone calls and document their Lewinsky and Clinton's relationship.

Tripp also informed the investigators about Monica Lewinsky's navy blue dress, which was dirtied with Clinton's semen – this served as the biggest piece of evidence during the investigation. It was later discovered that Lewinsky had actually shown the dress to Tripp during their friendship; she intended to have it dry cleaned but Tripp convinced her not to.

Both Monica Lewinsky and President Clinton were eventually forced to answer questions from the grand jury in D.C. At the end of the whole investigation, jurors asked Lewinsky for any last words – she said, "I hate Linda Tripp."
